Every year starting from 1969 we celebrate our Annual day on October 2nd. Various sports and cultural events are also held in connection with the Annual Day. All the residents of Gandhi Nagar actively take part in all the events. Gandhi Nagar is actively participating in all the cultural and social events held in the City. The Children of Gandhi Nagar won the Kalathilakam and Kalaprathibha prizes and has won the overall trophy in the 'Resifest' competition held in 1998.

The Association has donated in cash and in kind to those victims of Latur and Gujarat Earth quakes. Association has also donated to the poor people suffering on account of floods in Bangladesh. Every year the association helps the children of the Government School of the Visually impaired by donating one set of Uniforms each to the new admissions.

We are also the member of Federation of Residents' Associations (FRAT). We have participated actively in the discussions between the FRAT and the Kerala Water Authority on behalf of Water Consumers and also in the Evening Dharna organised in front of the Secretariat against the hike in the Electricity Charges. It was due to our timely intervention that the hike in the Asianet Cable Charges has been reduced to Rs.200/- from  Rs.230/-

The Gandhi Nagar as we see today, is the result of the efforts made by the earlier office bearers of our Association. We are grateful to all those people, living and dead, who have contributed their part in the development of Gandhi Nagar.

(This write up is taken from the Souvenir published by Gandhi Nagar Association in 2002, written by Sri.S.Bhaskaran Nair, Plot No.201, Gandhi Nagar, Vice-President, Gandhi Nagar Association)
